It’s that time of year – and maybe this is the year that you will save by making your holiday gifts and décor.  We’ve got four, fantastic, one-of-a-kind workshops to show you how to make great gifts for you and others. Introduction to Knitting

We’re excited to have knitting classes back on our schedule!  Have you always wanted to learn how to knit?  Know the basics, but want to learn continental knitting because you heard it was faster?  This class is designed to get you started, relaxed and with confidence. Take a break from your routine and join us to create a simple scarf.  Drop-ins welcome, but please call ahead.

$20 each session or $50 for three

Sunday Kids Sewing

If you miss the fun of camp, or missed it altogether, sign your child up for Sunday Kids Sewing.  Kids ages 7-11 learn machine basics and build on prior skills to create simple garments, accessories and keepsakes. Just think: merit badges, costumes, hemming and repair jobs can be briskly taken care of by your own sewing prodigy. We won’t even mention the frequency with which she will be able to re-decorate her room… Two sessions $70 (get four sessions for $130 - this class runs every month)

Pants or No Pants?

My friend has a rule: within 5 minutes of being in his house, you must don pajama pants.  Simply put: when at home, comfort is key.  Join us for a one session workshop to make one of the most essential garments.  Our lounge pants are stylin’, cozy and a breeze to make.  You’ll want to wear them everywhere and make extras for the folks who enter your house.  Bring 2.5 yards flannel or other soft, woven fabric (no knits), coordinating thread if desired (or use ours), ¾ “ “pajama” elastic or 1 yard of cord for drawstring.  Machine experience required.  One session.  Special price: $45

Independent Project Workshop
If you know how to sew, but sometimes need advice or just pine for some camaraderie while matching seams, this Thursday night opportunity is for you.  Bring whatever you are working on or something you want to start.  Use our machines, cutting tables, materials and guidance.  Kick back with some like-minded folks.  A great chance to take care of alterations, mending, gift ideas or ambitious quilting projects.  Bought a commercial pattern and feel like it was written in a different language?  Don’t give up!  Bring it to us at this once a month event and have it translated.  Sewing experience required.  only $10

Beginning Sewing Part

This one-session class goes over the basics of machine sewing. Learn how to thread and operate a machine and get introduced to essential stitches with dozens of applications. Begin to envision a new world of holiday crafts, simple and beautiful. Students make a slipcover pillow. One session (materials included) $50  Special pricing! $40

Beginning Sewing Part II

Spread your sewing wings to put together a bigger more advanced project.  Students who’ve learned the basics in Part I can join any of these workshops to make a roomy laundry bag, handy yoga bag, or customize a shopping bag.  Make the Whole Foods bagger say WOW.  We recommend students bring their own fabric or purchase ours for this one, but students are welcome to continue to use our free fabric.

Alterations and Restyled Clothing Workshop

Save yourself some serious bucks by learning to do this stuff yourself.  Have fun on a Thursday night to boot.  Take in the waistband, take up the hem.  Totally overhaul the dress. Funk up your coat. Add bling to your favorite jeans, or just turn it into a skirt. Come learn how to alter and restyle your favorite wearables. Bring any garment you are interested in transforming  (more than one or two is best) and we'll make it work for you.  Learn to love your closet again.

Machine experience necessary. Drop-ins welcome, but please call ahead.  One session.
